Marine Conservation Scuba Internships

Combine professional PADI Divemaster and Instructor qualifications with marine conservation, cultural visits, adventure, internships and a job placement service.

"What sets these courses apart are the inclusions; lectures on marine biology, the job placement service and most importantly the conservation aspects for which GVI is so well known…… These are so much more than professional dive training courses" Eric Zwanenburg, PADI Course Director

Course Location

You are going to be doing the majority of your dive training in the magnificent environments of the Yucatan Caribbean around Cancun and the coastline stretching to the south and Playa del Carmen. Renowned the world over for its incredible dive sites, this part of the Caribbean is without doubt one of the planets greatest dive locations. Cancun is a justifiably world famous destination, with magnificent palm fringed white sand beaches, nearby Mayan ruins, world class hotels and amenities and a vibrant atmosphere and nightlife. The climate is tropical and the people native to the region are of Mayan descent. Cancun was a sleepy little fishing community until the world began to discover the amazing natural beauty of the region. A renowned feature of Caribbean diving is the water clarity and depending on the season and weather divers can enjoy 30 – 60 metre visibility.

Field Conditions

Depending on group sizes a variety of accommodation options are used. All apartments feature shared rooms, full bathrooms with hot water, kitchen facilities and storage facilities. The town of Cancun is quite spread out and student accommodation is in a safe area, close to Plaza las Americas which features world class shopping, food courts and a cinema complex with English language movies. The Dive Academy training venue and Cancun’s famous beaches are just a very short bus ride away as are the less touristy areas of Cancun, featuring great Mexican and Yucatecan restaurants and a huge array of shops and activities. The international airport is just 10 minutes drive away.
